Dr. Rohan Patankar was born in Baroda, India and moved to the USA in 1999. He completed his undergraduate degree, at The University of Florida in 2007. He stayed in Florida to study medicine at LECOM – Bradenton. After receiving his degree, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Palmetto General Hospital. He moved to Galveston, Texas for his fellowship in Nephrology and Hypertension at The University of Texas Medical Branch.
Dr. Patankar’s interests in the areas of diabetes and hypertension led him to pursue further training in becoming a kidney expert. He monitors his patients very closely to help keep his patients off dialysis. He is a published author in the JAOA and has done a presentation at the American Transplant Congress in the area of kidney transplant. He takes his time and enjoys talking to his patients. He took the time to learn Spanish during his residency in order to connect better with his patients.
Dr. Patankar is also registered with the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas to be able to prescribe medical marijuana for specific conditions identified by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
In his spare time Dr. Patankar enjoys watching movies, is an avid musician playing 5 instruments and also loves cricket. He is a huge proponent health and fitness, following a very strict self created exercise and diet regimen. He has given lectures on the importance of nutrition and dietary intake in order to prevent progression of diabetes and hypertension. He has also helped create a 6 month program called Sequoia Lifestyle, with the help of colleague Mrs. Janelle Anzaldua, which guarantees results and will help you achieve balance in life no matter what your age.
