Dr. Dhvanil K. Thakor, a native from Dallas, Texas, earned a dual Bachelors degree in Biology and Chemistry from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. Dr. Dhvanil K. Thakor received his medical degree from the California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University. He then went on to pursue an extensive three-year foot and ankle clinical and surgical residency at West Houston Medical Center now known as
HCA Houston Healthcare -West, where he was part of the research committee and enjoyed teaching his
junior residents. During his residency, he had the opportunity to work closely with over 70 renowned
foot and ankle clinicians and surgeons and performed over 1,000 foot and ankle cases. Dr. Dhvanil K. Thakor is an Associate in the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and is Board Certified in Podiatric Medicine by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.
Following his residency, he worked as an attending physician in podiatric medicine and surgery in the
greater Houston area. He was actively involved in teaching podiatry and family practice residents.
During his tenure, he further advanced his skills in arthroscopic procedures of the foot and ankle and
also gained expertise in total ankle replacement surgery. He is currently a certified provider for the FDA approved Scandinavian Total Ankle Replacement (STAR) procedure.
Dr. Dhvanil K. Thakor’s philosophy is to exhaust all avenues of conservative therapy before considering surgery. His
treatment approach is tailored to each individual’s problem, activity level, and desired outcomes. He
enjoys treating all foot and ankle conditions from common problems such as nail fungus, ingrown
toenails, heel pain, bunions, hammertoes, arthritis of the foot and ankle to more complex problems
such as diabetic Charcot reconstruction, flatfoot/high arch reconstruction, trauma, sports medicine
injuries, complex limb deformities and limb salvage.
Dr. Dhvanil K. Thakor is an avid Houston Rockets fan and during his spare time, he enjoys running, hiking, biking,
sketching and photography.
